Communications Specialist

Key Role:

Provide organizational and mass communications consulting to DoD leaders, members, and stakeholders at unclassified and classified levels. Perform baseline assessments, design a communication approach, and develop products and vehicles. Collaborate with research and development subject matter experts to ensure technical accuracy on complex publication materials, employee communications, newsletters, bulletins, and informational materials for internal or external audiences. Support updates to and development and implementation of the organization's communications strategy to ensure consistent, relevant, accurate, tailored, and timely communications with internal and external stakeholders. Edit the work of or provide guidance and direction to junior staff.

Basic Qualifications:

* 5+ years of experience with developing and implementing communication strategies, work as a self-starter in a fast-paced environment, multitask, and create organizational and strategic communications among VA and DoD leaders, members, and stakeholders at unclassified and classified levels

* Experience with Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, performing a baseline assessment, designing a communications approach, developing technical products and vehicles, and implementing a communications plan, including evaluating and adjusting of the plan

* Experience in collaborating with scientific subject matter experts and working with senior leaders

* Ability to obtain a security clearance

* BA or BS degree

Additional Qualifications:

* Experience with working on strategic communications in the US Army or DoD community

* Possession of excellent oral and written communication skills

* Possession of excellent analysis and data gathering skills
